My friends band, OTTA, needed some images and banners for their social media presence & marketing their name so they asked me to help them out.
I used images taken in moments spent with them and images they sent me to hopefully capture the vibe and aesthetic they are going for.
The image above is a simple sunset shot with a high grain filter which could be used as a vinyl album inlay or back of an album artwork, I think its quite dreamy.
They wanted a minimalist style which entwined themes of nature.
I jumped on Blender and drafted up a few backgrounds and text styles for their band name and settled on the below designs. The backdrops were edited in Lightroom to get the colours and exposures how I needed them.
These images are for their socials banners, their aspect is designed for that in particular but I plan to have different image aspects for album covers or Instagram posts etc.
Design Process
I started with a few rough sketches from the band of what they wanted their name font to be and I experimented with different styles until one was selected, all created as 3D models for future use!
For the water image I created a UV map for the text to hold the colour version of the black and white image to then lay over the background image to have the text seem as if it was in the water, the effect isn’t perfect as some of the name is obscured, but this was my first time UV unwrapping so I thought I did alright!
